GE and CPECC Sign Agreements with USTDA to Advance Commercial Scale IGCC in China

Green Car Congress

In this initial study phase, GE and CPECC will evaluate the cost and performance of an IGCC design. IGCC and carbon capture technologies have been commercially demonstrated and will need to be widely deployed to enable low cost power generation from domestic fossil energy resources, while at the same time achieving significant reductions in carbon dioxide emissions globally.

US DOE Awarding Up To $62M for Concentrating Solar Power Research and Development

Green Car Congress

The US Department of Energy has selected 13 projects for investment of up to $62 million over five years to research, develop, and demonstrate Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) systems capable of providing low-cost electrical power. CSP plants can include low-cost energy storage, allowing them to provide electricity even when the sun is not shining. Eventually, this technology could deliver lower-cost solar energy at a utility scale.
