The Nio ET5 sold 5,795 units at retail in January, while the ET7 retailed 521 units in January and failed to make the list.
Nio's (NYSE: NIO) ET5 electric sedan continued to rise in the China Passenger Car Association's (CPCA) ranking of premium sedan sales, as it maintained relatively strong deliveries in January.
With 5,795 retail sales in January, the ET5 ranked No. 6 in China for premium sedan sales starting at more than RMB 300,000 ($44,250), according to a list released today by the CPCA.
The ET5 ranked No. 7 on the list with 7,594 retail units sold in December.
The ET5 is the least expensive in the Nio product array, with a starting price of RMB 328,000. Deliveries of the model began on September 30, 2022, with 221 units delivered in the same month.
Figures released today by the CPCA mean that the Nio ET5 has delivered a cumulative total of 17,608 units since deliveries began.
Nio delivered 8,506 vehicles in January, including 2,190 SUVs, and 6,316 sedans, figures it released on February 1 show.
Considering that Nio's sedans are only the ET7 and ET5, this means that the ET7 delivered 521 units in January.
The ET7 failed to make the list of best-selling premium sedans in China in January, with the Nio flagship sedan ranking 10th on the list last time after 1,379 deliveries in December.
The BMW 5 Series was the best-selling premium sedan in China in January, although its 16,128 units sold was down 38.2 percent from 26,092 units sold in the same month last year.
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class ranked second, with 14,543 units sold in January, down 30.8 percent from 21,020 units sold in the same month last year.
The Audi A6L ranked third, with sales of 12,465 units in January, down 4.6 percent from 13,067 units a year earlier.
BMW 3 Series ranked fourth with 7,759 units, 68.2 percent less than the 24,396 units sold in the same month last year.
Mercedes-Benz C-Class ranked fifth, with 5,893 units sold, down 42.6 percent from 10,273 units sold in the same month last year.
The Audi A4L ranked seventh, with 4,943 units sold in January, down 70.5 percent from 16,744 units sold in the same month last year.
The BMW 3 Series BEV entered the list for the first time, ranking 8th with 3,624 units.
