Since I'm still waiting on parts from ElectroAuto, I decided to take the plunge and do some extensive research on Lead-Acid battery technology. Given that I'm using lead-acid technology, one of the big challenges is knowing just how much charge is left in the batteries so I don't run them down below 20% SOC (or state-of-charge).

Seattle, Washington-based EnerG2 ( earlier post ) recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of its new manufacturing facility for electric vehicle battery components in Albany, Oregon. Supported in part by $21.3 million grant and loan package through the State of Washington’s State Energy Program funding.

Lead acid batteries for micro-hybrid applications: M2-23 series for Highest performing in power, charge acceptance, and cycle life; and the M2-33 series for a match of power performance and cost effectiveness. The 74,000 square foot plant—located in Albany Oregon—came online in February 2012.

Though equipped with decidedly low-tech lead-acid batteries and having a top speed of only 60-to-65 kilometers an hour, the car can go 100 kilometers when fully charged, according to the two companies. Mitsubishi to help Oregon build. and Korean golf cart maker CT&T Co. are expected to begin producing jointly this summer.

Kulongoski, Oregon as the electric-car manufacturer may be eyeing the “green” city of Portland. Today we could be using lead-acid EVs, lead-carbon-acid EVs, or nickel metal hydride or lithium-ion hybrids. Think has established a U.S. headquarters and will begin sales in the U.S. before 2010.
