Despite recent progress in improving the available knowledge base, the report notes, the emissions estimate still has large associated uncertainties, giving a range of 1,010-4,070 tonnes. However, modeling results continue to indicate that East Asia is the dominant source region for long-range airborne mercury transport worldwide.
