The new model is only sold in Europe and Australia, and it’s sourced from Turkey. There’s a space-saver in the GXL, but the others have a tyre repair kit. So, it’s not the cheapest option for imports to our market. The base grade GXL is $42,990 plus on-road costs, while the mid-tier Koba is $49,990 +ORC.

Mr. Thesen said that a factory in Turkey was being refurbished to be able to produce 100,000 electric vehicles a year. Battery recharging would typically take two to four hours, he said. So far Israel, Denmark, Australia , Hawaii and California’s Bay Area have plans to implement the Better Place model.
