2025 Kia EV3 sneak peek! BYD Atto 3 and MG ZS EV rival to be unveiled soon

Kia has given us our first glimpse of its inbounded 2024 Kia EV3 that will do battle with the BYD Atto 3 and MG ZS at the bottom end of the EV market.

Posting a single picture of the Kia EV3’s Signature Star Map front and rear lighting, it looks like little will change externally from the last year’s Kia EV3 concept.

That means the production version is likely to keep its striking daytime-running lights, blade-style rear C-pillar and angular front fender.

Looking like it will share overall styling cues with the EV9 flagship, the EV3 is yet to be confriemd for Australia.

But if it does get here – we’re tipping 2025 – the EV3 will become the brand’s most affordable electric vehicle, with pricing tipped to kick off at around $50,000 plus on-roads.

Kia will release the smaller and cheaper EV2 in some other markets but has already confirmed it won’t be coming here because of its European build origins.

The EV3 will have to be built in South Korea or China to be affordable enough against the Chinese compact SUV leaders to be competitive.

The EV3 is based on the car-maker’s E-GMP architecture but misses out on the EV9’s 800-volt electrical architecture.

Instead, the EV3 (and big brother EV5 that launches soon) will run a less powerful 400V electrical system that won’t support charging up to 350kW.

The smallest Kia EV will get a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery but still come with both a single- and dual-motor powertrains.

And again, like the EV5, the cheapest single-motor versions of the EV3 will be front-wheel drive and not rear-drive like the EV6 and EV9.

Full pictures, including its cabin, as well range and power outputs will all be revealed on May 23 at 10.00pm AEST on Kia’s official YouTube channel.
