The eagerness to reward green car buyers for their purchases now looks likely to extend to Israel, where the finance ministry is planning new regulations on car purchasing according to Reuters. Meanwhile, there will be discounts for people who buy hybrid cars and a scrappage scheme style payment for those that get rid of older cars.

Slovenia, Iceland, the Netherlands, Ireland, India, Denmark, Sweden, Israel, Germany and the United Kingdom all have 2030 deadlines. Scrappage schemes . The OECD has conducted analysis on the components of effective ‘scrappage schemes’. This includes Norway and South Korea, by 2025. Japan has a 2035 deadline.

The US is set to be the next country to introduce a car scrappage scheme, the Financial Times reports. It comes as a compromise between competing proposals advanced by two Democratic members of the House of Representatives, Ohio’s Betty Sutton and Steve Israel of New York.
