Israel-based StoreDot, a manufacturer of extreme fast charging battery technology for electric vehicles, publicly demonstrated its ability to charge a full-scale EV cell with enough energy for 100 miles in just 5 minutes. A Tesla 4680-like cell replicated on mass-production line by Israel’s StoreDot.

The smallfour-seater Mitsubishi iMiEV uses lithium-ion but is likely to cost up to£20,000 when it becomes available here later this year. The two companies have made a series of deals across the world supplying carsfor the electrification programmes of cities and whole countries – Denmark,Israel and Portugal among them.

Last week it began taking pre-bookings for the Peugeot i0n model ( see article ), which is based on the Mitsubishi i-MiEV. It was a well thought out move by PSA Peugeot Citroen to sign an agreement with Mitsubishi to manufacture the vehicle in Europe after the i-MiEV enjoyed significant success on its launch in Japan this summer.

In addition to a recent electric car deal with NISSAN Motors ( NSANY ), Portland General Electric, the Oregon state governor and GE have also announced a joint venture with Mitsubishi Motors ( MMTOF.PK ) to develop and sell the Miev electric car with 85 mile range by 2011.
