Like in many other European countries, electric car sales are booming in Ireland, but they are booming even more there than is the norm. In September, 36.66% of all new vehicle registrations in the home of leprechauns were plugin vehicle registrations. 29.31% were full electrics and 7.35% were plugin hybrids.

Sales numbers are in for electric vehicles in Sweden, Spain, Denmark, and Ireland for the month of March, and thus for the first quarter as a whole. Though, surprisingly, a different model took the top spot in Ireland, and it was the old-schooler Nissan LEAF! […]. The overall takeaway is clear: the Tesla Model 3 won.

They were able to gain traction arising from the Volkswagen Passat PHEV (981 units), Up BEV (678 units), Volvo V60 PHEV (897), XC40 PHEV (339 units); Audi E-Tron (1,289 units), A3 PHEV (465); and Ford Puma HEV (1,170 units), Kuga PHEV (753). Only 13 models posted growth.

Registrations increased in all EU Member States except Finland, Ireland and the United Kingdom. The countries with the highest proportions of diesel sales included Ireland (65 %) and Portugal (61 %), Italy (56 %). Around 97,000 BEVs were registered in 2017, a 51% increase compared to 2016, while sales of new PHEVs increased by 35%.

In 2021, the Volkswagen brand delivered more electrified vehicles worldwide than ever before, handing over to customers more than 369,000 electric cars (+73% versus 2020), comprising approximately 106,000 PHEVs (+33%) and 263,000 all-electric vehicles (+97%). 4 topped the BEV charts in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Ireland.

Markets were significantly hit in Italy, France, Spain, Austria, Ireland, Slovenia, Greece and Portugal, where the combined volume fell from 634,600 units in March 2019 to 161,800 units last month.
