Australia’s leading electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure company Jet Charge says it has reached yet another impressive milestone, installing its 10,000th residential EV charger.
The Victoria-based EV charging infrastructure company has taken just over a decade for the company to hit 10,000 residential EV charger installations, but its founders – Tim Washington and Ellen Liang, who started working out of a small garage in Melbourne – expect that number to grow at an exponential rate as EV adoption rates accelerate.
“In 2014, Teslas were such a rarity that drivers used to flash their headlights when they drove past each other,” says Liang.
“We were ambitious back then but I don’t think even we could have predicted 10,000 installations when we were working out of our garage!”
According to Jet Charge’s FY23 Environmental Impact Report, the company’s EV charging solutions have enabled an average emissions reduction of 779kgCO2e per residential installation, per year.
Washington says Jet Charge’s home-installed chargers are 3-4 times faster at charging your vehicle compared to a wall socket charging cable. “They also allow you to reduce costs by scheduling your charging during off-peak hours outlined by your electricity provider or by integrating with your home’s solar system,” he says,
Jet Charge is also beginning to roll out a charging-as-a-service business model, called Charge+, which offers an affordable and accessible charging option for vehicle fleets across offices, commercial sites, and even employee homes.
Charge+ will allow companies to fully outsource their installations, charging products, and maintenance services in a single bundled monthly payment.
“The cars often get all the limelight, but it’s just as important to get the infrastructure right and to make sure it’s reliable, fit for purpose and a joy to use,” said Washington.

“So it isn’t just the 10,000 installations I’m proud of – it’s 10,000 best-in-class installations that we know are helping our customers power their visions for a low-emissions future.”
