The 2017 Infiniti Q30 takes Nissan's luxury brand into a new area of the market, with a little help from Mercedes-Benz.
That's because the Q30 shares its underpinnings with the European-market Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatchback, as well as the CLA-Class four-door, and GLA-Class crossover.

The styling is all Infiniti, though, hewing fairly closely to the original concept.
The roof line is very coupe-like, but the Q30 also seems to stand a bit taller than a typical hatchback.
In addition to its shared platform, the Q30 will also share powertrains with compact Mercedes models.

This is the same hardware used in the U.S.-market Mercedes CLA and GLA.

In Europe, buyers will have a wider variety of options, including multiple gasoline and diesel engines, an available six-speed manual transmission, and all-wheel drive.
U.S. buyers looking for all-wheel drive may have to wait until an expected QX30 crossover derivative appears.
On the inside, the interior features a similar wavy design theme to the exterior, with some high-end touches like contrasting stitching and a suede-like material called Dinamica.
2017 Infiniti Q30
The Q30 goes on sale in Europe this fall and will arrive in the U.S. in the second quarter of 2016, likely as a 2017 model.

Production will take place at Nissan's plant in Sunderland, England.
