Ener1 Outlines Automotive Programs Underway for Li-ion Packs

As part of its report on fourth quarter and year-end 2008 results, Ener1 outlined its EnerDel unit’s customer programs underway for its lithium-ion battery technology in applications spanning hybrids, plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) and full electric vehicles. Overall, Ener1 reported 2008 revenues of $6.8 million compared to $280,000 in 2007.

ENER1 Receives Additional $20M from Principal Shareholder

Li-ion maker ENER1, Inc. has executed a securities purchase agreement with its principal shareholder, Ener1 Group, for the purchase of common stock and warrants for $20 million. The financing is expected to close next week. Ener1 set out to raise $150 million at the start of 2010, to meet near-term manufacturing objectives.

EnerDel Signs Letter of Intent to Supply Lithium-Ion Batteries to Fisker Automotive; Inaugurates New Manufacturing Line

Fisker had earlier said it would use lithium-ion batteries developed by Quantum’s strategic alliance partner Advanced Lithium Power Ltd. EnerDel currently produces two primary types of Li-ion cells: High power cells targeted at hybrids, using a Lithium Titanium Oxide (LTO)/Lithium Manganese Oxide (LMO) chemistry.
