Plugin hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) can be a pretty contentious topic in the EV scene. For some, the idea of only offering a few miles of electric range followed by combustion is already hopelessly obsolete. For others, they’re a cheap scheme to get tax credits or HOV lane access.

June saw plugin EVs at 24.6% to 18.9%, the share of plugin hybrids halved, however, after incentives were cut. With combined plugin EVs at 24.6% share in June, full electrics (BEVs) contributed 18.9%, and plugin hybrids (PHEVs) contributed 5.7%. share in Germany, down from 26.0% year on year.

This includes 14,243 Pure Battery Electric Cars, 4,451 Plugin Hybrids, and 1010 Fuel Cell cars. Just to give you an idea, electric cars in India like Nexon EV charge at 25 kW whereas cars like MG can charge at 50 kW rate today. The plug-in EV segment continues to grow. Meanwhile, Hyundai sold 18 Konas in India.

Caroline Reichert, an RWE spokeswoman, noted that the idea here is to ensure that "a car can be recharged in Italy in exactly the same way as in Denmark, Germany or France." When Lutz first proposed creating an electric car in 2003, the idea "bombed" inside GM, he says. "I 5/17/06 "Plugin hybrids have a lot of promise, especially to displace oil consumption. He said he plans to discuss the idea with [Caroll] Shelby and [Lee] Iacocca. The electrification of the automobile is inevitable." Reuters ).
