Yanmar Power Technology, a subsidiary of Yanmar Holdings, is commercializing a 300 kW maritime hydrogen fuel cell system. The company plans to propose the installation of this system into various ships, including passenger ships, work ships, and cargo ships operating in coastal areas where hydrogen refueling is relatively accessible.

Operator Transdev has signed a contract with Solaris Bus & Coach to supply two hydrogen buses. Solaris Urbino CNG (in yellow and red), operating X-Trafik Gävle—the hydrogen buses in Sandviken will have the same look. The Urbino 12 hydrogen buses are fueled with power generated by a 70 kW fuel cell.

Researchers at the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft have developed a membrane technology for the energy-efficient and economic separation of hydrogen from natural gas. This marks a major step forward in the transportation and distribution of hydrogen as an energy source. Germany has a 511,000-kilometer gas grid and 33 gas storage locations.

Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation (Toshiba ESS) announced that its hydrogen-based autonomous energy supply system H2One, which Toshiba ESS delivered and installed on the rooftop of Toranomon Hills Business Tower (Minato-ku, Tokyo), has started full-scale operation with the opening of commercial facilities.

Wiener Linien, one of the biggest public transport operators in Europe, has added a hydrogen Solaris bus ( earlier post ) to its fleet for testing until 12 June. Since the première of the hydrogen bus in June last year, Solaris has been awarded orders from the Netherlands, Germany and Italy for 57 buses in total.

The hydrogen bus Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen is being tested again in Austria. Now, for the first time ever, we have a chance to test a hydrogen-powered Solaris bus. The Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen buses use a set of fuel cells with a power of 70 kW. Pölten on 7 July 2020.

In 2019, during the UITP Global Public Transport Summit representatives of Solaris and RATP Group (Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens) signed a contract for lease and tests of the Urbino 12 hydrogen. Over the next few weeks, RATP will test the hydrogen-fueled bus on the streets of Paris.
