2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid

2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Ford might need to upsize their trophy case for all the awards the new Fusion is winning. Just two weeks ago, the Fusion was awarded Motor Trend's golden calipers as the 2010 Car of the Year, beating out the Honda Insight, the Lexus HS 250h, and the Toyota Prius, among numerous others.

Now Car and Driver has followed suit, recognizing the Fusion Hybrid as one of the 10 best cars for 2010 and not only for its eco-conscious virtues. Sure, the new hybrid is praised for its seamless, efficient powertrain, but it also excels where other hybrids have failed. The Fusion Hybrid is fun to drive, be it for its willing chassis or its SmartGauge technology which is arguably the most engaging driver interface available today.

Couple that with the standard voice activated Sync system and available navigation with Sirius Travel Link, and the Fusion becomes a technological tour de force that stands up well to any competition.

What C&D likes most about the Fusion Hybrid though, is its unassuming character. Unlike Toyota's Prius, the Fusion doesn't wear it's hybridness on its sleeve. It won't be the topic of divisive conversations about global warming. It's simply a splendid midsize sedan. It's just capable of accelerating to 47 miles per hour without using a drop of gas.
