Golf Cart Battery Pack Care for Storage

by Steve Murphy

I plan on leaving my golf cart idle for 3 weeks. Do I have to disconnect each battery or just one, or none?

Hi, Steve -
For one month, you probably don't have to do anything. Fill up the batteries, charge them up, and then when you get back, recharge the batteries fully before you use the cart again.

Something I'd think about doing for a longer storage is to disconnect the whole battery pack from the golf cart. You don't have to unhook each battery from the other batteries, just disconnect the battery pack from the motor and accessories.

Why? Because the cart will passively drain your batteries dry.

Regards,
Lynne
