Remy to supply HVH250 motors to Quantum for F-150 PHEV program

Remy International, Inc. signed an agreement to supply its HVH250 motors to Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide Inc.  Quantum will use the motors in its Ford F-150 PHEV program to convert the gasoline powered light-duty pickup trucks to plug-in hybrid operation.

Quantum will install the Remy HVH250 electric machine as the traction motor into a parallel hybrid system that delivers an all-electric range of 35 miles and a hybrid operational range of 400 miles.

The F-150 PHEV comes standard with 4WD, but can also be operated in 2WD mode.  The vehicle has a payload of up to 900 lbs (408 kg) and a towing capacity of 5,800 lbs (2,63 kg), making it a good choice for truck fleets requiring the performance potential of an electric drive system combined with the utility value of a light-duty pickup truck.

Quantum is a provider of alternative and renewable energy technology solutions.   Quantum’s products and services include Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle powertrain systems (Q-Drive), hydrogen and natural gas vehicles and systems, ultra-light weight carbon composite fuel storage vessels, silicon-based photovoltaic (PV) solar modules and wind & solar renewable energy generation projects.
