Argonne National Laboratory has published a new cradle-to-grave (C2G) lifecycle analysis (LCA) of US LDV vehicle-fuel pathways. The study provides a comprehensive analysis of the cost and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of a variety of vehicle-fuel pathways; the levelized cost of driving (LCD); and the cost of avoided GHG emissions.

The Abfallentsorgungs-Gesellschaft Ruhrgebiet mbH ( AGR ), a waste management company in Herten, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, has put a converted DAF CF 340 hydrogen fuel cell truck into operation as part of the EU-funded HECTOR (Hydrogen Waste Collection Vehicles in North West Europe) project.

Allison Transmission announced the availability of hydrogen fuel cell and compressed natural gas (CNG) testing at its Vehicle Electrification + Environmental Test Center ( VEET ). Additional OEMs are scoping fuel cell vehicle testing projects for later this year.

The EU plans to extend its climate goal of reducing CO 2 emission of new vehicles by 37.5% until 2030 to heavy-duty vehicles. In 2019, 409,801 commercial vehicles were registered in Germany, of these, 38,620 semitrailer trucks. First vehicles are already available. The MEA is a composite component.

In June, Renault Group and Plug Power launched their hydrogen fuel cell and infrastructure joint venture HYVIA. Assembly of fuel cells and hydrogen refueling stations begins at Renault’s Flins factory in late 2021. These vehicles are built on a Dual Power architecture: powered by both electrical and hydrogen-based energy.
