Some curious vehicles have emerged on the electric vehicle market over the years, and few have been more curious than the Triac. We first wrote about the Triac three-wheel electric vehicle back in 2010. Made by Green Vehicles of Salinas, California, it touted a 100-mile range, an 80 mph top speed, and a price tag of $25,000.

Singapore will implement a new Carbon Emissions-Based Vehicle Scheme (CEV) on 1 January 2012, providing rebates to qualified new cars, taxis, and imported used cars with low carbon emissions, and imposing an equivalent surcharge on higher emitting vehicles.

With hydrogen as a fuel option, the car is so expensive and made in such limited numbers it has no MSRP and is not rated on the EPA Green Vehicle Guide for 2007 or 2008. Despite an advertising budget that rivals available models, the Hydrogen 7 is not for sale.

PICC’s conversion kit adds about 220 pounds (100 kg) to the vehicle, but rear springs are upgraded to maintain the rear height at factory specifications. A software upgrade, retailing for $2,000 to $2,500, will be made available for sale later this month to new and existing conversion kit customers.
