VegEase e-grocery startup to deploy EVs for last-mile logistics
VegEase a cart-at-home e-grocery startup is deploying electric vehicles for its last-mile logistics. The startup owns a dedicated fleet that is handled by cart captains and supported by a modern, state-of-the-art warehouse facility. This step by the company will contribute to reducing the operating cost by 25%.
This month the VegEase has successfully completed its initial shift to EV pilot. It has also partnered with the various electric vehicles OEM, OBA for three-wheeler eVikas light commercial vehicles under a long-term leasing model. The company also looking to add three-wheeler loaders with lithium-ion batteries with a loading capacity of 300 kgs.
“EV is the future of city logistics and we at VegEase are committed to the sustainable growth of this sector. With all our deliveries happening intra-city, and through last-mile logistics, it is imperative to look at reducing the carbon footprint of our operations, and to eventually reduce pollution by transport,” said Mayank Chaurasia, CEO and Founder, VegEase.
“We are convinced that this also significantly improves our costs in the long term while contributing to the creation of a robust EV ecosystem,” he added.

VegBase is a first-of-its-kind exclusive app to ensure the consumer gets fresh fruits and vegetables at the doorstep. Their cart at home model is what makes them stand out. VegEase is part of EGreens, a people-first retail company that focuses on unique ideas to redefine the shopping experiences.
By the end of 2021, VegEase will be operational across all major metros in the south and west India. Since the company formation in January 2021, it had a turnover of Rs 1 crore a customer base of over 18,000 in the Delhi/NCR region with 5,000 customers in April and May 2021 alone.
Recently, Zypp Electric, India’s leading last-mile delivery company has partnered with more than grocery, e-retail and food tech players, including BigBasket, Grofers, Modern Bazaar, Spencers and others to provide last-mile delivery services. It has deployed over 1000 trained professionals to cater to the wide-ranging needs of the segment. Zypp has developed a fleet of e-scooters that can carry a loading capacity of 200 kgs.
It has recently announced that it plans to expand its fleet to 10,000 e-scooters in the next 12-14 months and onboard more riders that include women to meet the demand for its services.
