US DOE Awards $300 Million in Clean Cities Grants to Support Alternative Fuels, Vehicles, and Infrastructure Development

The project will deploy 502 alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles through 119 public and private fleets throughout the state. Clean Energy Coalition’s CEC Michigan Green Fleets Initiative. Fleets include transportation authorities, cities, school districts, the University of Michigan, FedEx, and Meijer.

Study: Reducing Future Transportation CO2 Emissions to Kyoto Protocol Levels Will Require Combination of Vehicle Technology and Smart Growth

The research, led by Associate Professor Brian Stone, shows that expected levels of CO 2 emissions from cars and trucks in 2050 could be reduced back to close to 2000 levels if the full vehicle fleet was converted to hybrid electric vehicles—a greater reduction in CO 2 emissions than achieved by two smart growth scenario modelled in the study.
