The 2022 Ford Escape Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) is powered by a 2.5-liter That number jumps to 105 MPGe, or miles per gallon equivalent, when combining electricity and gasoline. MPGe is a measurement of how far a car can travel, electrically, on the same amount of energy as is contained in 1 gallon of gasoline.

The third phase of a SDG&E multi-year in-use study on plug-in hybrid electric vehicles showed that plug-in hybrids offer significant improvements in gas mileage and reductions in emissions when compared with standard hybrid-electric and gasoline internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.

Understeer was non-existent, so it was possible to get back on the gas quickly when hitting corners hard. Other safety features are eight air bags, a tire pressure monitoring system with a tire sealer and repair kit, collapsible steering column, anti-theft alarm, and an engine immobilizer.
