Volt like hybrids are the intermediate future between hydrogen or fast charging electric cars. If GM hadnt killed off the EV1 and spent all those years doing bogus development on hydrogen fueled cars, wed be on the 3rd generation of cars using Volt technology by now. So I think its a safe bet for GM.
