“We really appreciate the government’s trust in Toyota products that were chosen as the official vehicles for the G20 Summit. Not only supporting the smooth mobility of conference participants, but the presence of the Toyota BZ4X and Lexus UX 300e is also expected to be a symbol of Indonesia’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions towards the era of Carbon Neutrality in 2060,” said the Vice President Director of TAM, Henry Tanoto, at the Hand Over Ceremony at the East Parking, Gelora Bung Karno International Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta (19/10/2022).

For information, the bZ4X is Toyota’s first BEV-electrified vehicle, officially marketed globally in mid-2022. Its use at the G20 Summit is after a strong request from the Indonesian government and a global supply reorganization with the principal of Toyota Motor Corporation.

Meanwhile, the Lexus UX 300e is an electrified vehicle with premium Battery EV technology, a subcompact SUV type that was first marketed in 2020. As a premium brand, the presence of the Lexus model in Bali will also be supported by e-LCMS (Electric Lexus Mobile Concierge Service) facilities further to provide convenience and smooth mobility for summit participants.

As a mobility company, TAM is fully committed to supporting the Indonesian government in achieving its Carbon Neutrality target by 2060. Through its multipath strategy, Toyota offers a complete range of electrification technologies, from Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) to Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV). In addition, it also participates in developing an integrated electrified vehicle ecosystem through the EV Smart Mobility Bali Project and the EV Smart Mobility Toba Project.

Toyota-Astra Motor claims to be the first automotive APM to present electrified vehicles in Indonesia by bringing in the Toyota Prius Hybrid in 2009 and the Lexus LS600h in 2010. Until now, Toyota has marketed ten models of electrified vehicles in Indonesia, starting from HEV, PHEV, and BEV, with sales of more than 6,800 units in total.

Toyota claims to have reduced more than 7,000 metric tons of carbon emissions in Indonesia from the total sales of these environmentally friendly vehicles. A significant number is a substantial effort towards carbon neutrality.

In addition, the Emergency mobile EV charging system from SETEC POWER also attracted everyone’s attention. After installing it on the vans, it can provide Mobile Concierge Service for all electric Lexus, which has become a significant feature.

“In the future, environmentally friendly vehicles are one of the concrete steps to reduce carbon emissions. The government’s step to issue Presidential Regulation No. 55 of 2019 is very strategic for Indonesia in facing the challenges of future mobility which must be in line with environmentally friendly principles or zero emission,” concluded Henry.
