The bill, HB 1204 / SB 5256 , requires all model year 2030 or later passenger and light-duty vehicles sold in Washington State to be electric. a transition strategy for those negatively impacted by the requirement.

The Washington State legislature has passed legislation that sets a target for all MY2030 or later passenger and light-duty vehicles sold in Washington State to be electric vehicles. Nicole Macri (D-Seattle) as HB 1204, the bill is now the first LDV combustion-engine phaseout target to be passed through the legislative process.

The Washington State House Transportation Committee voted 17-12 to advance legislation calling for all model year 2030 or later passenger and light-duty vehicles sold in the state to be electric vehicles (EVs).
