EIB and Umicore conclude €125M loan for EV battery materials production in Poland

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed a €125-million loan with Umicore, the Belgian-based global materials technology and recycling group, to finance part of the greenfield production facility for cathode materials in Poland. Around 350 full time jobs will be created, and Umicore will partner with the local engineering school.

Daimler plans new €500M engine plant in Poland

Daimler AG plans to invest approximately €500 million (US$576 million) in a new production facility in Poland. The first Mercedes-Benz Cars plant in Poland is to be established in Jawor, about 70 kilometers west of Wroclaw, and will produce four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars.

Toyota to produce hybrid transaxle and new gasoline engines in Poland; adjusting to shrinking diesel share in Europe

Toyota Motor Europe will start production of a hybrid transaxle in 2018 at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland (TMMP) in Walbrzych, and add two gasoline engines—a 1.5L in 2019—at Toyota Motor Industries, Poland (TMIP) in Jelcz-Laskowice. Diesel engines, will add two gasoline engines to its production.
