MGās all-electric Cyberster two-seater roadster has once again been spotted, this time in Victoria. The red convertible example was seen by an avid reader of The Driven, Chris Q, who shared the image of one being driven in Melbourne.
This is the third confirmed sighting of the vehicle in recent weeks and shows the extent of testing being undertaken as the NSW car has now made its way to Melbourne.
In the photo, it can be seen pulled up at a set of lights in front of a BMW X5 ICE SUV. The front of the MG Cyberster shows how much lower it is to the ground than a conventional SUV which would provide better handling on the road.
With a height of 1,329 mm, it is quite a low vehicle. For comparison, it is over 100 mm lower than a Tesla Model 3, which is 1,443 mm in height.
Others also spotted the vehicles driving in Melbourne CBD around Southern Cross station.

The Cyberster will be a unique offering in the market as there are no other electric convertible sportscars currently available in Australia.
Over in the UK, this model has been doing its rounds at car and sustainable energy shows like Everything Electric. Itās expected to have a starting price of Ā£50,000 which is considerably higher than the MG4 X-Power which starts at Ā£36,495.
The latest engineering evaluation testing run with the Cyberster is not the first time MG has conducted extensive testing for an Australian-delivered EV.Ā
In September 2023, multiple sightings of a matte-green MG4 X-Power electric hatchback were seen around Sydney. That vehicle was then launched in subsequent months with deliveries starting soon after that.
The Cyberster was first unveiled as a concept car in 2021 at the Shanghai auto show. Over the last three years, MG has been showcasing the vehicle to interested buyers in China.Ā
Since then the model has been showcased more globally in other countries too, like in the right-hand-drive UK market.
In China, the soft-top convertible is also available in both single and dual-motor powertrains. The single-motor variants produce 231 kW and 250 kW of power respectively.Ā
The more powerful dual-motor variants can also take that up a notch with up to 400 kW of power. This keeps the 0-100 km/h sprint to just 3.2 seconds.
Local launch date, specs and pricing of the new model are likely to be announced closer to the launch and are anticipated to be released in the second half of 2024.
