Charge when it’s cheap with myenergi and Intelligent Octopus Go

The UK’s original smart charger just got smarter

The world’s first solar-compatible smart electric vehicle charger, the zappi from myenergi, can now integrate with Octopus Energy’s Intelligent Octopus Go tariff, enabling EV drivers to minimise their home charging costs with access to six hours of low-cost energy every night.

The integration has been achieved thanks to extensive collaboration between the two companies. Following a successful beta trial with selected myenergi customers, the feature has now been unlocked as a selectable option for all zappi users.

The zappi was the first charger in the world to fully integrate with self-generated renewable energy, allowing customers to charge at zero marginal cost from their microgeneration. Since then, new features and functionality have been added to the smart device, which was one of the first products to be certified as fully compliant with the UK Electric Vehicle Smart Charge Point Regulations.

As well as being one of the smartest chargers on the market, capable of both integrating fully with renewable self-generation and now able to integrate with one of the market’s cheapest energy tariffs, the zappi is designed and engineered in Britain, and manufactured at myenergi’s state-of-the-art UK production facility.

Jordan Brompton, co-founder and CMO of myenergi, said: “There are now well over 100,000 happy zappi customers in the UK, and we are really proud to be able to offer them full integration with the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff to enable them to charge when its cheapest.

“As well as helping customers to reduce their home charging costs, our zappi chargers are also able to help the grid. With more than 500MW of connected capacity in the UK – more than the rated capacity of the Hinckley Point A nuclear power station (470MW) – our customer base is set to play a crucial role in supporting the flexible, decentralised and distributed energy system of tomorrow.”
