Ten Fastest Electric Vehicles

Tesla Model S Plaid

The fastest electric vehicle in the world is the Rimac Nevera. It has a top speed of 258 miles per hour and a price tag of 2.2 million dollars. For our top 10 list, we are only including affordable consumer electric vehicles available in the United States as of 2023. So you won’t see the Rimac on our top 10 list. We define “fastest” based on the top speed of the electric vehicle. If you are looking for rankings based on the overall performance of electric vehicles, which take acceleration, top speed, horsepower, and more into consideration, take a look at this article.

Electric Vehicles Definitions

Top Speed: The maximum speed at which a specific electric vehicle model can travel.
Acceleration (0 to 60 mph): How quickly a specific electric vehicle can go from standing still to 60 miles per hour measured in seconds. Note This is the primary attribute for the fastest electric vehicle rankings.
Horsepower: The measurement of how much power a specific electric vehicle can exert.
Drive Type: What kind of drivetrain does a specific electric vehicle possess? There are Three types of Drivetrains:

  • All-wheel drive: The power from an electric vehicle motor is distributed to the front and rear tires. All-wheel drive generally helps handle various weather conditions (rain and snow).
  • Rear-wheel drive: The power from an electric vehicle motor is distributed to the rear tires. Rear-wheel drive vehicles help with handling but can suffer when driving in rain and snow.
  • Front-wheel drive: EV motor powers the front wheels of a specific electric vehicle. Front-wheel drive trains are least desirable when it comes to handling.

Fastest Electric Vehicle Methodologies

To rank the fastest electric vehicles, we simply arrange them in order from the one with the highest top speed to the lowest. Other details may provide more information about each vehicle, but the top speed is the main factor considered in this ranking.
