After a competitive search, the United States Postal Service (USPS) awarded a contract for 9,250 Ford E-Transit battery electric vehicles (BEVs) as well as initial orders for more than 14,000 charging stations to be deployed at Postal Service facilities. The Ford E-Transit BEVs are manufactured in Kansas City, Missouri.

The vehicles carry 22 passengers and luggage; the vehicles they replaced only carried 14 passengers. Atlanta is one of three airports to purchase BYD buses and has reduced its emissions by 70 metric tons since the launch of its two buses. ATL is looking at more ways to incorporate sustainability through its GreeningATL program.

Smith Electric Vehicles US Corporation announced the issuance and sale of $39 million of Series B Convertible Preferred Stock and the conversion of Bridge Notes and the exercise of related Warrants into $19 million of Series B Convertible Preferred Stock. This prepayment will result in a payment holiday of approximately seven months.

To date, more than 450 commercial customers in North America, including 200 top fleets and fleet management companies, have said they’re interested in purchasing the E-Transit. It will be built alongside the Transit at Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo, Missouri. No deposit or purchase commitment is required.
