Supreme power! Tesla Model 3 Performance set for huge boost as reveal looms

A fresh leak out of South Korea suggests that the facelifted 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance is set to offer supercar-humbling levels of acceleration when its launched later this year.

According to Twitter (X) user ‘evissacopter’, a leak of the incoming Tesla Model 3 Performance specs indicate it will combine a 158kW front motor with an all-new and more powerful 303kW rear motor.

That suggests the Model 3 Performance – seen here in an earlier Twitter (X) leak – could pump out as much as 461kW – although the actual combined figure should be a smidge lower.

But, whatever the case, expect it to produce significantly more than the 393kW/660Nm the current flagship Model 3 musters.

Intriguingly, according to the post that was accidentally leaked by the South Korean Ministry of Environment, the new rear motor’s peak power is only delivered at 110km/h, instead of the previous version’s lower 70-75km/h.

This means there will be significantly more punch for high-speed overtakes that are mostly illegal in Australia.

When it arrives, we expect the new Model 3 Performance to be significantly quicker than the 3.3 seconds it takes for the current car to launch from 0-100km/h, with a sub-3.0sec sprint easily achievable.

The win-win for fast car fans continues when you consider the newfound performance will be combined with the facelifted 2024 Tesla Model 3 improved aero that on the standard car manages to add an extra 22km of range.

Other improvements will include a new operating system, enhanced chassis components and extra sound proofing that ensures the fastest-ever Model 3 will be better to drive quieter with an even slicker infotainment.

Set to be officially revealed in the coming weeks, it’s thought the refreshed Tesla Model 3 Performance will arrive in Australia before the end of this year with pricing set to kick-off at around $85,000.
