ET7 scores 91.44 percent in active safety and 88.18 percent in occupant protection.

Nio's (NYSE: NIO) flagship sedan, the ET7, has received the highest rating in a prestigious safety test in China, the latest recognition for the model.

C-NCAP, China's vehicle safety assessment program, announced on its website the latest models evaluated, and the Nio ET7 was included and received a five-star rating.

The Nio ET7 in the test is the version with a 75-kWh battery capacity and currently has a starting price of RMB 458,000 ($65,630) before subsidies. It has an overall rating of 87.3 percent with a five-star star rating, according to the test report.

The Nio ET7 scored 75.833 in the occupant protection category, scoring 88.18 percent out of 86 points.

In the pedestrian protection category, the model scored 11.572, out of 15 points, with a score of 77.15 percent.

It scored 60.807 in active safety, with a score of 91.44 percent.

Founded in 2006, C-NCAP is the first independent crash test safety organization in China to assess the safety of cars.

It created a five-star safety rating system to help users more easily compare vehicles and determine the safest option based on their needs.

Notably, this is not the first time the Nio ET7 has received a five-star rating from a vehicle crash test. A month ago, the model received five stars in Euro NCAP as well as Green NCAP ratings.

Designed to Chinese and European five-star safety standards, the ET7 is one of the first cars in the world to use a significant amount of hot-stamped steel, Nio said in a November 16 press release.

The model gets 44.4 percent of its upper body from hot-stamped steel, including a 2-meter-long body section and a 1-meter-long roof railing section.

Its strong composite structure of aluminum-silicon coated hot-stamped steel ensures torsional stiffness of up to 37,100 Newton meters per degree (Nm/deg), according to Nio.

The ET7 is equipped with seven airbags as standard, with the Far Side Center Airbag (FCA) being one of the first airbags to be fitted as standard in medium and large vehicles in China. The FCA protects front-seat occupants from secondary injuries in vehicle crash tests.

Nio launched the ET7, its first sedan and the first model of its NT 2.0 platform, at the Nio Day 2020 event on January 9, 2021.

Deliveries of the Nio ET7 began on March 28 of this year and a total of 21,696 units have been delivered since then through the end of November, according to data monitored by CnEVPost.
