DUH says testing indicates use of defeat device in BMW 320d diesel

Results of testing on a Euro 6 BMW 320d diesel by the German environmental organization Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH), ZDF’s WISO and a software expert point to the use of inadmissible defeat devices, according to DUH. The organizations found that road-testing NO x emissions are up to 7.2 times higher than those produced on the dyno, which met the official NO x limit.

Broad-Ocean subsidiary commissions facility for Chinese produced Ballard fuel cell modules

Ballard Power Systems announced that a subsidiary of strategic partner Zhongshan Broad-Ocean Motor Co., Ltd. (Broad-Ocean) called Shanghai Edrive Co. Ltd. has commissioned its fuel cell engine manufacturing facility located in Shanghai, China. Shanghai Edrive will assemble Ballard FCveloCity 30-kilowatt (kW) and 85kW fuel cell engines at the facility under a technology transfer, licensing and supply arrangement between Ballard and Broad-Ocean that closed earlier this year.

Renault launches new generation gasoline engine, co-developed by Alliance and Daimler

Renault has introduced a new direct injection turbocharged 1.3 gasoline engine co-developed by the Alliance and Daimler. Inaugurated on the Scénic and Grand Scénic, it will be progressively offered in the Renault range beginning in 2018.
