Toyota, Weathernews partner in research effort to improve accuracy of weather forecasts, increase driver safety using IoT and big data

Weathernews and Toyota Motor began a verification test in Tokyo, Osaka, and Aichi on 1 November 2019 in which the conditions of roads and their surroundings are ascertained using the operating status of windshield wipers, as well as weather data. This is part of a joint research effort to increase the accuracy of weather observation and forecasts, and improve driver safety using Weathernews’ weather data and the vehicle data obtained from Toyota’s connected vehicles.

CARB puts HVIP on hold after receiving voucher requests for entire $142M budget

The California Air Resources Board (ARB) has put the Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP) on hold after receiving voucher requests for its entire $142-million budget. More than 100 truck and bus fleets requested funding for vehicles produced by more than 20 manufacturers. CARB, in partnership with CALSTART, launched HVIP and Low NO x Engine Incentives in 2009 to accelerate the purchase of cleaner, more-efficient trucks and buses in California.
