BASF introduces blockchain pilot project to improve circular economy and traceability of recycled plastics

BASF is launching the pilot platform reciChain in the province of British Columbia (BC), Canada, as a response to plastic waste. The scalable blockchain solution will support the track and trace and monetization of plastics within the value chain, through innovative Digital Badge and Loop Count technology. According to a report produced by Deloitte for Environment and Climate Change Canada , Canada disposed of nearly 3.3 million tons of plastic waste in 2016.
