In the spirit of circular economics, Neste and Fazer Bakery in Finland are joining forces with the “Doughnut Trick” campaign. The oil used to fry Fazer Bakery’s May Day doughnuts will be recycled by refining it to produce Neste MY renewable diesel. The value of the fuel will be donated to the Finnish chapter of the charity SOS Children’s Village International.

Ford Mustang, the top-selling sports car in the US over the last 50 years, became best-selling sports car in the world in 2016, according to Ford analysis of IHS Markit global automotive registration data in the sports car segment. More than 150,000 Mustangs were sold in 2016, according to IHS Markit new vehicle registration data. Overall global sales increased 6% over 2015, fueled by international market growth up 101% with almost 45,000 Mustang vehicles sold outside the United States.

A new report from Autolist says the Tesla Model S is faring well as a used car when compared to other luxury models. On average, the electric car sells in around 87 days, which is about 5 percent faster than competitors. The report compared the Model S to the Audi A7, Porsche Panamera, BMW 6 Series, Mercedes-Benz CLS and Lexus LS 460. CHECK OUT.

Four months after the launch of a successful pilot phase in Munich, Mercedes-Benz is gradually rolling out its Croove private car-sharing platform ( earlier post ) in other major German cities. The service began availability in Berlin in mid-April. The platform continues to be open to vehicles of all makes. Using the app or website, renters can find a private vehicle in Berlin that meets their specifications and price expectations.

Nissan is making it easier for electric-car owners to travel between the Boston area and Washington, D.C. The automaker has partnered with EVgo to add a network of nine charging sites along Interstate 95, with a total of 50 stations, each equipped with two fast-charge plugs. Industrial and technology group thyssenkrupp has opened a new €10-million (US$10.9 million) development center for engine components in Dalian, China. The Group will concentrate its engine component development and prototyping activities at the 2,000 square meter development center in the future.
