Shell Starship 3.0 to use Cummins X15N natural gas engine running on RNG

At ACT Expo in Anaheim, Shell announced that Shell Starship 3.0 will be updated with a Cummins X15N natural gas engine ( earlier post ) that will run on Shell Renewable Natural Gas (RNG). Demonstration runs will be conducted this summer. The Starship initiative, launched in 2018, is intended to demonstrate how a Class 8 truck’s energy usage can be reduced by harnessing currently available energy-efficient technologies and lubricants.

EPA issued Emergency Fuel Waiver for E15 sales for summer driving season

The US Environmental Protection Agency recently issued an emergency fuel waiver to allow E15 gasoline—gasoline blended with 15% ethanol—to be sold during the summer driving season. Current estimates indicate that on average, E15 is about 25 cents a gallon cheaper than E10. Currently, in roughly two-thirds of the country, E15 cannot be sold from terminals starting on 1 May and at retail stations starting on 1 June.
