Audi has developed a new e-scooter concept to respond to the urban trend towards multi-modal mobility. The Audi e-tron Scooter, combining the advantages of the electric scooter and the skateboard, is designed for sporty riders. To be transported by car, bus or train, the twelve-kilogram (26-pound) e-scooter can be folded up and stored in the back of the car, or if preferred, pulled like a trolley.

As automakers fret over materials and supplies of electric car batteries, it may not be lithium keeping executives up at night. A new report from Bloomberg reveals that prices for class one nickel—high purity and required in some electric car batteries—has jumped more than 35 percent since the end of 2018 on the London Metal Exchange.

Ports of Auckland (New Zealand) has signed a contract with Dutch company Damen Shipyards to buy the world’s first full-size, fully electric port tug. The new tug, a Damen RSD-E Tug 2513 to be delivered in 2021, will have a 70-tonne bollard pull, the same as the port’s strongest diesel tug Hauraki , also built by Damen. It was important to us that a new electric tug should be able to carry out normal port operations, just like our existing diesel tugs.

Fifty-six models of electric-drive vehicles were available in model year (MY) 2018 in the US. One quarter of the models were midsize cars, followed by large cars at 16% and compact cars at 14%. Together, small sport utility vehicles (SUV), standard SUVs and minivans accounted for another quarter. The California Air Resources Board launched a new $40-million program designed to accelerate the purchase and use of zero-emission off-road freight technologies. The “Clean Off-Road Equipment Voucher Incentive Project” (CORE) will feature a streamlined voucher process for buyers to receive funding that will offset the higher costs of clean, zero-emission equipment including terminal tractors, transport refrigeration units, cargo-handling equipment and more.
