Tesla is working with Manor Independent School District to give high school graduates an opportunity to work full-time at Giga Texas while completing courses in Advanced Manufacturing Programming at Austin Community College.

According to the school’s calendar, Tesla conducted interviews for seniors from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Manor ISD noted that Tesla’s Manufacturing Development Program (MDP) is providing graduates the opportunity to launch their careers at Tesla through its Tesla Start program, which we covered last year when Tesla initially launched it.

Tesla has been ramping up its hiring efforts in Texas and has already established several partnerships with Austin-based schools and universities. KVUE also reported that Tesla employees recently visited students at Del Valle ISD for a resume-building session that would help them prepare for their future careers.

According to Alex Torrez, the district’s Chief Workforce Development Officer, Tesla has been quick to jump in and educate students.

“It’s super important for us to be able to give those students who want to go in that direction the skillset, the information, so they can maximize the opportunities that are at the Gigafactory.”

Tesla has been focusing on keeping its promise to hire thousands of workers for Giga Texas. In 2020, when Tesla first made the announcement of the new factory in Austin, Mayor Adler shared a short thread on Twitter noting that Tesla would give the city thousands of good-wage jobs that do not need a four-year degree. He also said that the factory would be better for people and the planet and that it was an important economic boost in east Austin.

“This new opportunity will help our city be more fair for everyone who lives here.”

You can read more about that here.

I think Tesla is definitely keeping its promise to the local community, and from what I’ve seen on both Twitter and LinkedIn, Tesla is definitely on a hiring spree.
