Volvo Trucks received an order for 100 Volvo FM Electric trucks from DFDS, Northern Europe’s?largest shipping and logistics company. The deal is the largest commercial order to date for Volvo electric trucks, and one of the largest yet for heavy electric trucks worldwide. First deliveries of the Volvo FM Electric to DFDS will start in the fourth quarter of 2022 and continue throughout 2023.

GM announced Wednesday that it plans to reveal the fully electric Chevrolet Silverado EV pickup in January at CES in Las Vegas. The company also released a teaser of the truck, which may be badged "Silverado E," showing off the truck’s available fixed glass roof. It says the Silverado EV will be the first of its full-size trucks to offer.

Biofuels producer Renewable Energy Group joined Iowa State University (ISU) at the BioCentury Research Farm (BCRF) to mark the start of a new hydrotreater pilot plant. This project is the result of a three-year collaboration between REG and the ISU Bioeconomy Institute. REG converts waste and byproduct fats and oils into biodiesel and renewable diesel.

Full electrics alone took 17.1% of the market, overtaking diesel’s share (15.9%) for the first time. The Mercedes-Benz powertrain plants in Germany are starting production of key components for the battery-powered eActros heavy-duty truck. These include the electric axle and the battery packs, which are produced and assembled at the plants in Gaggenau, Kassel and Mannheim. The US Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy has finalized an Assistance Agreement providing approximately US$21.9 million to a project led by General Atomics for the engineering, construction and operation of a rare earth separation and processing demonstration plant to be located in Wyoming. SpaceX appears to have delivered hardware that will eventually become part of the first 33-engine Super Heavy booster to its South Texas ‘Starbase’ factory. Coming either from SpaceX’s Hawthorne, California headquarters and Falcon rocket factory or a smaller fabrication shop colocated on the company’s McGregor, Texas development and testing campus, the giant coin-like structure was spotted arriving at Starbase on Tuesday afternoon.
