Schaeffler has begun production of its electric wheel hub motors; three manufacturers of compact municipal vehicles are gearing up to incorporate the motors into their production lines in the coming months. All the components needed for propulsion and braking are integrated directly into the wheel rim, rather than being positioned centrally or mounted on the drive axles.

Kia on Tuesday revealed a full range of details for its upcoming EV9 electric SUV—including a Level 3 assisted-driving system and a digital store that will serve up extra-cost over-the-air feature upgrades. The brand says that it’s targeting more than 336 miles for rear-wheel-drive long-range versions of the EV9, with its 800-volt.

Liontown Resources, an emerging battery minerals producer based in Australia, has rejected an unsolicited, conditional and non-binding indicative proposal from Albemarle Corporation, in which Albemarle would acquire all of the shares in Liontown at a price of A$2.50 per share—valuing the company at approximately US$3.7 billion. The proposal represented a 63.9% premium to the ASX-listed company’s last close.

Used EV shoppers don't have to worry too much about battery degradation eroding range, according to a new study from Recurrent, which sells battery health reports for used EVs. "Used EV shoppers worry that the car battery will degrade quickly like a mobile phone battery, and not be able to hold a charge within a few years," Liz Najman, lead.

VinFast delivered the first 27 VF 9 all-electric SUVs to its customers at an event in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The delivery events took place approximately 1 year after introducing the VF 9 model to the public. BYD 's net profit for the full year 2022 was up 445.86 percent year-on-year to RMB 16.6 billion. BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY) reported a more than 10-fold year-on-year increase in net profit in the fourth quarter, as its new energy vehicle (NEV) sales grew significantly. The largest Chinese maker of NEVs reported net income attributable to shareholders of RMB 7.3 billion ($1.06 billion) in the fourth quarter, up 1114.29 percent year-on-year and up 27.89 percent from the third quarter.
