Delhi govt-issued tender to set up charging stations for EVs

The Delhi government announced that it has issued a tender to select vendors to set up charging stations for electric vehicles in places such as shopping malls, departmental stores, hospitals, theatres, multiplexes, residential areas. This tender is different from tenders issued and work orders issued by the government to empanel vendors to set up 500 EV charging points across 100 public spaces locations. BSES Rajdhani, on behalf of all three Delhi discoms, floated the tender for empanelment of vendors, for providing installation of slow and fast EV chargers to anyone in Delhi.

In line with the vision set by CM Arvind Kejriwal of making Delhi the EV capital of India, Delhi will soon be the first city in India where anyone can get an EV charger installed avail Delhi government subsidy, by making a single phone call or applying online,” said Jasmine Shah, vice-chairperson of Dialogue and Development Commission.

Log 9 Materials developed a fast-charging battery for electric vehicles

Log 9 Materials an IIT incubated has developed a fast-charging battery for electric vehicles that will help to extend the life of the power unit and adoption of electric vehicles. The company is making trials in some cities with its new batteries that can reduce the charging time to 15 minutes which will be able to run the vehicle to 60 km. It is going to introduce EV batteries for two-wheelers and three-wheelers with its practice in nano-technology.

Log 9 Materials Founder and CEO Akshay Singhal said that these batteries will not only reduce charging time by 80 per cent but also extend the life of the power unit to 10 years.

“We are currently focusing on commercial vehicles as they require recharging more frequently for their heavy usage. Long-charging time is the major hurdle for the commercial fleets used by e-commerce and food delivery companies, Singhal told.
