Hyundai Motor Group and LG Energy Solution (LGES) announced an EV battery cell manufacturing joint venture in the US. Hyundai Motor Group and LGES signed a memorandum of understanding to produce EV batteries in the US. Hyundai and LGES will each hold a 50% stake in the JV, which will involve an investment of more than US$4.3 billion (KRW 5.7 trillion).

Tesla owners put more miles on their cars than owners of other EVs, according to new iSeeCars data analysis. All four Tesla models are driven an above average amount for EVs, but still not as much as the average for gasoline vehicles, according to the analysis. As with other iSeeCars data insights, it's based on the posted information of vehicles.

According to MAN Engines, all MAN off-road engines from the current product portfolio can be operated with regenerative diesel—also known as HVO (hydrogenated vegetable oil)—in accordance with the EN15940 standard in Europe or the US specification ASTM D975. By burning regenerative diesel, engines emit up to 30% less particulate matter and up to about 10% less nitrogen oxides (NO x ).

Higher crude prices and continued optimization improvements have driven the first upward revision to the S&P Global Commodity Insights 10-year oil sands production outlook in more than half a decade. The new forecast, produced by the S&P Global Commodity Insights Oil Sands Dialogue , expects Canadian oil sands production to reach 3.7 million barrels per day (mbd) by 2030—half a million barrels per day higher than today.

Tesla’s reintroduced Model 3 Long Range has finally landed an official range rating from the EPA just a few weeks after the automaker started re-offering the vehicle to U.S. customers after an eight-month hiatus. 8 Rivers Capital announced the development of the 8RH2 CO 2 Convective Reformer—a technology for the production of ultra-low carbon hydrogen from natural gas. The 8RH2 technology has been invented by Rodney Allam MBE, a chemical engineer from Bath in the UK, who also pioneered the Allam-Fetvedt-Cycle (AFC) cycle. The Allam-Fetvedt Cycle is a new type of power cycle that takes a novel approach to emissions reduction.

For the 107 th Running of the Indianapolis 500 on 28 May, Bridgestone has incorporated ISCC PLUS certified recycled butadiene, a monomer produced from hard-to-recycle used plastic shopping bags, film, stretch wrap and other flexible polymer packaging, developed in partnership with Shell, in all Firestone Firehawk race tires used at the event. The new monomer replaces the petroleum-based monomer and will be supplied by Shell, the race series’ official fuel, oil and lubricant supplier.

A little over a year after joining Australia’s primary car lobby group, the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI), Tesla has secured a seat on the group’s board.
