BYD announced today that it has entered into a partnership with Saga Group, the largest local dealership group, in Brazil.

The two have opened the partnership's inaugural store, BYD Saga Brasília, in the Brazilian capital, Brasilia, bringing the number of BYD offline dealership stores in the country to 10.

"Saga Group has reached a significant milestone as we opened the first electrified vehicle store in Brasília. Working with BYD, the world's leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles, means being completely updated with the world's sustainable portfolio", said Sérgio Maia, CEO of Saga.

“The cooperation with the biggest dealership group in Brazil is very important to consolidate BYD's brand in the Brazilian market and to catalyze the electrification of local transportation”, said Tyler Li, General Manager of BYD Brazil.

In Brazil, BYD has already introduced models including the Tang EV, Han EV and D1, and recently started pre-sales of the hybrid Song Plus DM-i, it said.

BYD's presence in Brazil is expected to expand to 45 cities by the end of this year, with 100 stores set up by the end of 2023, the company said.

On May 27, BYD said it has partnerships with well-known Brazilian car dealers including Eurobike, Saga, Servopa, IESA, Águia Branca, GNC, Parvi and Dahruj.

The opening of the store with Saga is the latest development for BYD's business in Brazil.

On October 19, BYD announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Santander Bank in Brazil in order to provide local consumers with automotive financial services.

With the service, Brazilian consumers can enjoy digital auto finance solutions, including credit assessment, credit review and payment options, when purchasing BYD vehicles, according to a BYD press release.

Brazilian ride-hailing software 99 signed a partnership agreement with BYD to begin testing an electric vehicle developed for the software's drivers, according to a Reuters report on July 12.

The car, developed by BYD and China's Didi Chuxing, will begin testing this week in Brazil's financial capital, São Paulo, with the aim of accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles in 99's fleet.

In November 2020, BYD and Didi jointly launched a customized D1 model for the ride-hailing market.
