Study on effect of surface topography of Li metal anodes on dendrification

Researchers from Sogang University and Hyundai have quantitatively revealed the effect of surface topography of lithium metal anodes on dendrite growth using an electro-chemo-mechanical phase-field model. A paper on their work is published in the Journal of Power Sources. Lithium (Li) metal, which has the advantages of high theoretical capacity, low redox potential, and low density, is considered an ideal anode material for next-generation battery systems.

A $5-million research project led by North Carolina State University’s (NCSU’s) FREEDM Systems Center focused on improving the efficiency of, and reducing the cost of, extreme fast charging (XFC) for electric vehicles (EVs) ( earlier post ) has been awarded an additional $200,000 grant from the US Department of Energy (DOE).
