Renewable Energy Group (REG) has entered into an agreement with Hunt & Sons, Inc. to supply REG Ultra Clean at 12 locations in Northern California. REG Ultra Clean blends biodiesel and renewable diesel. The patent-pending combination delivers both biodiesel’s excellent lubricity and renewable diesel’s high Cetane and low Cloud Point in a 100% renewable fuel.

Lordstown Motors released the first ad for its Endurance electric pickup truck Thursday—even though first deliveries for the truck remain about a year away. The Endurance was designed primarily as a work vehicle aimed at fleet buyers, and the ad certainly shows that. Chock full of farmers and construction workers, the ad looks like it was.

Between 2020 and 2025, Groupe PSA will gradually move from two multi-energy platforms to two 100% electrified platforms to support its e-mobility development. The newly introduced eVMP (Electric Vehicle Modular Platform) platform will serve as the basis for a wide range of electric vehicles for the C- and D- segments. eVMP will offer high-performance with a range of up to 650 km (404 miles) (WLTP cycle) and a benchmark storage capacity with 50 kWh per meter available within the wheelbase.

General Motors and EVgo announced a partnership Friday that will result in the installation of more than 2,700 DC fast charging connectors—all powered by 100% renewable energy—over the next five years. Panasonic plans to give battery cells for Tesla electric cars a 20% boost in energy density in five years, Reuters reported Thursday. That timeframe could potentially line both the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y for a boost in range, performance, or both at that time. Tesla could at that time choose to make packs smaller and lighter with the same.

SK Innovation will develop next-generation battery technology with University of Texas at Austin Professor John Goodenough, who was awarded a 2019 Nobel Prize in chemistry for his foundational work on the lithium-ion battery. Rio Tinto has approved an additional investment of almost $200 million to progress the next stage of the development of the lithium-borate Jadar project in Serbia. This will primarily fund the feasibility study, including the completion of detailed engineering designs, as well as permitting and land acquisition by the end of 2021, in line with the initial project schedule.

The Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI) will receive $2.7 million from the US Department of Energy (DOE) to develop and validate technology that will reduce the cost of manufacturing high-performance carbon fiber by 25% to make composite natural gas or hydrogen fuel tanks to power cars and trucks.
