Inside story: Fast 450kW Jeep Wagoneer S shows off its luxurious interior

Jeep has shared more pictures of its incoming 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S with the US SUV brand revealing its luxurious tech-laden cabin for the first time ahead of its launch later this year.

Set to land in Australia in the first half of 2025, exterior pictures of the Jeep Wagoneer S have already been leaked but this time it was Jeep’s turn to officially show off its all-new Range Rover Sport both in and out.

Posting pictures that highlight its rakish front- and rear profiles, the US brand shows just how large its rear tailgate spoiler is, which has been designed to add downforce to its sleek aerodynamic shape.

Within, the Wagoneer S is set to adopt a high-tech dash that includes a full digital instrument cluster, twin-infotainment screens and a fourth widescreen passenger display.

Helping cut driver distraction and reliance on all the screens, the Jeep driver will have a multi-function steering wheel that features physical buttons. Within the centre console there’s yet another touchscreen that’s claimed to offer haptic buttons.

Throughout Jeep says it’s been careful to use ‘mindful’ materials which is thought to be a reference to high-welfare leather as well as vegan-friendly fabrics.

As standard, the Jeep Wagoneer S will come with twin panoramic sunroofs, plus the option of a 19-speaker McIntosh sound system.

As part of the release accompanying the new images, Jeep also confirmed for the first time that the flagship Wagoneer would be among the first in the Stellantis group to be based on the all-new STLA Large architecture.

The same platform will also underpin the much more rugged Recon 4×4 that will be unwrapped soon.

While the Recon has been created as an uncompromising off-roader the Wagoneer S will feature a road-biased drive and, because of that, it is the fastest Jeep ever made.

Powered by a dual-motor powertrain that pumps out a muscular 447kW, the Wagoneer S is capable of sprinting from 0-60mph (0-97km/h) in just 3.5 seconds.

There’s no word on driving range but the original 2022 show car was said to be able to cover around 650km on a single charge, thanks in part to its sleek, aerodynamic styling and the fact that it is likely to feature a huge all-new 118kWh lithium-ion battery.

Despite its performance, the Wagoneer S could still get Jeep TrailRated status on account of new tech like a height-adjustable, limited-slip differential and the SUV brand’s latest Selec-Terrain all-wheel drive tech.

Already confirmed for a launch in Australia, along with the mud-loving Recon, it’s thought Jeep will release full details and launch timings in the coming weeks.

In the US, the Jeep Wagoneer S is tipped to be priced from $US80,000 to $US100,000 ($A122,000-$A153,000) which isn’t far off what the Range Rover Sport ($A143,600) is priced from.
