In the past two days, rumors have surfaced that BMW dealers are offering massive subsidies for the i3 in China, and that consumers who pay full cash for the car can even get the model for RMB 120,000 to 180,000, less than half the retail price. The rumors and the dealers' moves come as the Chinese auto industry is staging a rare price war.

Ford has tripled to more than 200 the number of US dealers certified to sell its lineup of plug-in electrified vehicles, including the new C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid that is on sale now and delivers the equivalent of 105 mpg combined in electric mode. Ford recently began production of the C-MAX Energi at its Michigan Assembly Plant.

Applications will be accepted up to 31 May 2013 or until all funding is awarded, whichever occurs earlier.

The state of Texas is now offering rebates on select electric vehicle (EV) purchases including some Tesla models, as made available through a limited-time grant program. The state is accepting applications for grant rebates until March 22, 2024, according to its website, though only 2,000 grants will be awarded.
