and Endesa, Spain’s largest electricity supply company, are developing a Quick Charging network for electric vehicles. Under a Memorandum of Understanding signed by both parties, Nissan and Endesa have agreed to advance the technical progress and deployment of Direct Current (DC) quick charging technology throughout Spain.

Two minutes from motorway junction A60/A61, it offers six 300-kW DC fast-charging stations and four 22-kW AC charging points. All electric and plug-in hybrid models from Porsche can be supplied with electricity at chargers manufactured by South Tyrolean electronic specialist Alpitronic.

At the Clean Energy Ministerial in Washington, DC, 19-20 July, ministers reaffirmed their commitment to previously-announced targets for the deployment of electric vehicles, which the International Energy Agency (IEA) estimates will create global market momentum leading to at least 20 million electric vehicles on the road worldwide by 2020.

Well, when an EV is charged, AC (alternating current) electricity from the grid is converted to DC (direct current) electricity, the kind that can be used by a car. This means that they can handle the electrical conversion back from DC to AC. They can even control the amount of power supplied to and from the battery.
