Hybrid DLC-Battery Energy Storage System for Streetcars

Siemens earlier this year launched a new hybrid energy storage system for streetcars that combines a double-layer capacitor (DLC) and NiMH battery pack. The systems are mounted on unused roof surfaces of a tram and electrically connected to the feed-in point of the vehicle by means of a DC/DC-chopper.
